Telepathy, Afterlife Experiments, Ghosts, Polaroid Enigmas and Halloween Haunts

“Thinking you have to read all the unread books on your shelves before buying new ones is like thinking a wine connoisseur should drink everything in their cellar before buying any new bottles. Some books just need a bit of shelf-time before they (/you) are ready.” – Shakespeare & Company via Twitter.

All thought is telepathic, whether in the conscious, subconscious, or supraconscious realms. It is impossible to shield our thoughts/beliefs against their radiating outwards since, “all that is” is definitely interconnected in manifold forms, ways, and byways. Estate of Ingo Swann

Classic Keel

Written by Barbara Fisher. From a DVD of John Keel giving a lecture at a FortFest in the 1990’s. He describes watching from a hilltop on the West Virginia side of the Ohio River, as boatmen flashed their bright lights up into the sky at the strange lights that were skittering about.

He describes how the lights would dash away from the beams of the boat’s lights. Then, Keel tells how he used his own powerful flashlight to signal the aerial lights, in Morse code, telling them to flash, or descend or ascend, and they would do as requested. Which gave him pause.

They either knew Morse code, or were reading his mind. In order to see which possibility was correct, he made up his own code on the spot, and signaled them—and the lights reacted appropriately. Source: 6 Degrees of John Keel Blog.

Afterlife Experiments and PSI

Food for Thought – Inconceivable! Inigo Montoya: You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means. – The Princess Bride.

One of the most imaginative attempts to prove/disprove the authenticity of spirit interaction, The Philip experiment was a 1972 parapsychology experiment conducted in Toronto, Ontario to determine whether subjects can communicate with fictionalized ghosts through expectations of human will. Polaroid enigma

One of the most fascinating topics featured in New Thinking Allowed with Jeffrey Mishlove interview archives is this conversation with Stephen Braude, Phd, on the unusual abilities demonstrated by Ted Serios – and his Thoughtography.

View the Jule Eisenbud collection of Ted Serios images online at the Albin O. Kuhn Library & Gallery of the University of Maryland, Baltimore County (UMBC). Link.

The World of Ted Serios: “Thoughtographic” Studies of an Extraordinary Mind, Amazon.

Consider this Amazon Reader Review: Verified Purchase– “As a late-teenager, I caught this “bull-in-a-china-shop” little man on a TV talk show with his “handlers.” I think it may have been the Joe Pyne Show. I was hooked. I went to great pains to get a copy of THE WORLD OF TED SERIOS.

I pored over the information and Dr. Eisenbud’s analysis of it. I tried to catch Ted on more talk shows. I was fascinated by the possibilities. How many others had this talent if it truly exists? I was young and impressionable and wanted to believe in all things paranormal. I later mentioned that I had a copy of the book to a college professor of Psychology who asked to borrow it. He never returned it and I felt a loss, was too intimidated to ask the prof for it back–what if he lost it and was too embarrassed to tell me? I did not want to put him on the spot, so I left it alone, but of course there was a resentment there.

Time has passed, the excitement faded, the “talent” was debunked by skeptics over and over again. I thought there was probably no way to get another copy of the book. When I saw some used copies available on Amazon, well, I ordered one, naturally, and have been slowly re-reading it in great detail, after first just reading it once again. The photographic images are beautiful and dream-like, fake or not, and appreciated by me, as an artist. As I got older–it has been 40 years–90 percent of my brain was ready to join the skeptics and would have if not for an incident that happened to me in the early 1970s–a freak occurrence with a Polaroid camera.

My niece who came to visit from out of state was about four years old and I got the camera out of its case and decided to take a picture of her for my parents. It was black and white film and had to be fixed with a “fix stick” It was new film in the camera. In the image I shot was not only the current picture of my niece, but a less clear image of her when she was 2-3 years younger in a different outfit, tilted at a slant. Then there was another very faint image of an object that was not in the room photographed, nor anywhere else.

Hmmmmmmmmmmm, I thought. Maybe there is so much we do NOT know. About auras, electrical energy, something I have also just now coined as “atomic memory.” Hey, it could happen! It was not exactly thought photography but something similar. If you get your hands on this book you will find it a great read, no matter what your opinion of the scientific possibility.”

There is another interesting story involving a Polaroid film enigma – I interviewed John Huckert about his experiences with the a ghost who goes by the name, “Wright”.

John was present when the script developed on the first image. He has lots of stories about what it was like to witness that initial message and then observe as various groups showed up to investigate the case – each attempting to capture the ghost in action or debunk the story. Wendy’s Coffeehouse interview: Link.

John’s story and some of the photos are featured in Ghostwriter: The Polaroid Ghost & Other True Tales of the Paranormal. Joe Augustyn captured the behind-the-scenes story and includes more than 100 Polaroids.

Weston Haunts

Final weekend for the annual Dining with Ghosts events in Weston, Mo. Various haunted sites are featured on the walking tour (dress accordingly). Ghosts are not shy about making their presence known but sometimes the encounters are so subtle and fleeting the experiencer questions what happened.

One beautifully restored house on previous tours is so actively haunted, owners are reconsidering what had been intended as a retirement haven. They have been told the events at their house are a residual haunting.

Activities include footsteps, a male ghost who stood directly in front of the homeowner and laughed. The sound of a window pane being smacked so loud he was frightened off of a ladder. A picture taken in an empty room features a woman – fully visible in the mirror.

A tour participant departing the restroom at the Weston Cafe reported bumping into a woman in period clothing and apologizing, thinking she was one of the employees. She was told there was no one else in that area. At least one previous tour host refuses to enter that building alone.

A Main Street Galleria visitor encountered a woman who hurried past her into the hallway. When she realized the hallway was empty, she got spooked and left the store.

Reservations are required. Link.
